FounderCircles are currently for founders-only (this includes late-joining founders) and our founders range from CEOs, CTOs, CFY, CPOs, COOs and more. You’ll likely be driven, see things differently and love solving problems – just like all of our existing founders!

The founder family has grown to orient around tech and product-based startups and scaleups – i.e. business models that are scalable in nature – and new founders joining will likely be in a similar space.

We are stage-agnostic, because we curate groups of ten carefully to match stage and ambition: If you’re experienced and scaling we’ll have a group for you. Likewise, if you’re early-stage and up-and-running, it is likely we’ll have a group that suits you too – all thanks to our range of FounderCircle groups that cover the pre-seed stage, right up to Series C and beyond (or bootstrapped equivalent). This breadth of groups also means that if you’re growing quickly, you can join a later-stage group to suit your growth.

We do not demand minimum revenue, as we appreciate many ambitious startups in sectors like BioTech and AgriTech take years before that threshold starts. We are however a community of founders who are ‘in it’ day to day, meaning you’re running a startup venture or scaleup already.

Curation is part art, part science, and we take it very seriously at Foundology: The group dynamic is critical to launching a successful FounderCircle and we’ve learned over the years both the best method and mix to make it happen.

We carefully curate our Circle groups looking at stage, character and ambition, this way we find that challenges and experiences are most valuable to everyone involved. Curation also involves making sure there’s no competitive tension within the group and separating co-founders too. Circles are always Industry-agnostic, as we’ve seen time and again that there are more common challenges related to the startup lifecycle and leading a growing team, than industry specific ones. Not only that, having experiences from other founders across industries really brings the fresh perspectives that we want in group-coaching 

Can I stay with my existing group? If you’ve recently been in a group with other founders, we will absolutely prioritise keeping you together.

Being part of a FounderCircle group means dedicating time to benefit from and contribute to your monthly group-coaching sessions – that way you and your fellow founders know you’ve always got this time to explore challenges and can get the most value from the experience. We know time is tight for you, so each monthly group coaching is an intensive 2 hour session. It is the same time slot each month, and it should only be by exception that you don’t attend.

We set aside 2 hours a month, at the same time every month for each FounderCircle group.

Once the sign up deadline passes, we start curating groups and match them to the optimum founder-coach. We then liaise with you as a group to select the most popular timeslot. Your Circle is always the same time each month, making it easier for scheduling and planning, and you’ll receive calendar invites from Foundology.

If the Circle slot clashes permanently with something immovable, like your board meeting, let us know and we’ll do what we can to swap times or groups for you.

Right now we have FounderCircles that span the globe, with founders HQ’d in more than 20 countries. Currently, FounderCircles are delivered in English – but watch this space for new additions in different languages.

Well, yes and no…

We’ve certainly got a pretty strong ethos in the founder family. One orientated around dropping the bravado that we usually need in the startup ecosystem, and focusing on helping each other generously – in mind and spirit. This is supported by a strict no-selling principle.

Each FounderCircle group will set their own ‘rules’ or expectations of each other when they come together. These rules will always include confidentiality.

Our FounderCircle group-coaching method also has a few skill-based rules to maximise the impact of the sessions but we’ll cover all this in the first session. 

We totally understand that it’s all about the experience with FounderCircles and we want to make sure you’re loving your experience. We encourage everyone to commit to a minimum of 3 months because that way you get to experience the power of the group properly. In reality most of our groups stay together for the long term.

If you really think it’s not for you after the first session, then talk to us and we’ll either help you transition to a different group or honour a right to cancel. That said, across all of our Circles and all of our founders, that’s only every happened once, so we’re pretty sure you’ll want to stick around!
